Bradley Harwood
Training & Quality Assurance Manager
Brad’s journey with us began at just 16 years old, starting work as a Trades Assistant at what was then Gary Presnell Bodyworks. He quickly proved his automotive passion and dedication, completing both a panel beating and spray painting apprenticeship to become dual-qualified.
He also embraced the opportunity to learn estimating under Gary’s mentorship. As the business transitioned under Kate’s leadership, Brad was promoted to Workshop Manager and has since continued to strengthen his technical, operational and leadership expertise.
Brad is one of the two most senior managers at Kate Presnell Bodyworks. He plays a critical leadership role, training the next generation, overseeing workshop quality, and helping shape the future of the business.
Brad has undertaken extensive training and is recognised as a Platinum iCar individual. He has completed leadership development and several OEM specialty training programs with BMW, Mini, and Volvo. He also holds EV certification and was the first licensed air conditioning technician at Gary Presnell Bodyworks — paving the way for future innovation in our team.
Jeb
From School-Based Work Experience to Workshop Coordinator
Jeb joined Kate Presnell Bodyworks at just 15 years old through a school-based work experience program. Since then, he has completed both his spray painting and panel beating apprenticeships, building a strong foundation in the trade.
With a natural aptitude for all things automotive, Jeb continues to expand his skillset and is preparing to begin a mechanical apprenticeship — demonstrating his commitment to becoming a true all-rounder in the workshop.
Jeb plays a vital role in daily operations. He assists senior manager Brad with quality checks, supports Stefanie with problem-solving, and actively mentors his teammates. He also manages workshop stock levels to ensure consistent efficiency across departments.
He has completed EV and forklift training and is soon to undertake air conditioning certification to be licensed in degassing and regassing vehicles — further strengthening his technical versatility.
Kate Presnell
Leading with Vision, Integrity, and Heart
Kate’s career began not in the workshop, but in human resources — starting as a business trainee with one of Tasmania’s largest private employers. She went on to build a successful HR career across Australia and overseas, eventually becoming a senior human resources generalist. But it was the pull of family and legacy that brought her back to Launceston, where she joined the business her parents built—Gary Presnell Bodyworks.
Keen to lead with more than just passion, Kate immersed herself in developing the business and her own capabilities. She undertook leadership, financial, and marketing training to complement her people-focused background. She sought out mentorship from respected industry figures and business leaders, always driven by a desire to be the best possible leader for her team.
Now the Managing Director of Kate Presnell Bodyworks, Kate has rebranded and reshaped the business into a modern, values-driven, female-led collision repair centre. She introduced initiatives such as a 4-day work week, strengthened the company’s commitment to OEM-only repairs, and fostered a workplace culture grounded in professionalism, honesty, inclusion, and growth.
Kate is a strong advocate for fairer practices across the collision repair industry.
Kate’s leadership has earned recognition both in Tasmania and nationally. She is a two-time winner of the Women in Collision Owner/Manager Award, a recipient of the National Rising Star Award, and led the business to win National Best Country Repairer. Under her direction, Kate Presnell Bodyworks has also been named a three-time finalist for Best Small Automotive Business – Tasmania and shortlisted for the Tasmanian Employer of Choice Award. We have since won the TACC Best Small Business of the year 2025 and been recognised as an Employer of Choice. We are also a finalist again for the National Paint & Panel Award – Best Country Repairer.
Kate herself has been recognised as a standout leader in a traditionally male-dominated industry, standing up for small repairers, quality standards, and consumer protection.
